Muscat, 15 February 2026 On 15 February 2026, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Sultanate of Oman, Rashad Ismayilov, held a meeting with the newly appointed Minister of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman, Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi.

During the meeting, the sides held an extensive exchange of views on the current state of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Oman in the fields of tourism and culture, as well as on prospects for further development and areas of mutual interest. The parties emphasized the dynamic development of relations between the two countries, founded on friendship and mutual respect, and underlined the importance of expanding humanitarian and cultural ties.

Ambassador Rashad Ismayilov provided detailed information about Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage, tourism potential, and the reforms implemented in recent years in this sector. He noted that Azerbaijan’s historical monuments, national cultural heritage, and diverse tourism routes could be of particular interest to the Omani public.

Minister Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi expressed strong interest in enhancing cooperation between Oman and Azerbaijan in the fields of tourism and culture, highlighting the importance of promoting mutual visits, organizing joint events, and strengthening institutional cooperation mechanisms.

Within the framework of the meeting, the parties discussed the organization of an Azerbaijani Carpet Festival in the Sultanate of Oman in the near future, aimed at promoting Azerbaijan’s traditional carpet-weaving art. It was emphasized that this initiative would contribute to further strengthening cultural ties between the two countries, increasing awareness of Azerbaijan’s national heritage in Oman, and fostering mutual interest in the tourism sector.

It was noted that Azerbaijani carpet weaving represents an integral part of the country’s rich historical and cultural identity, reflecting the nation’s artistic traditions and aesthetic values. The planned festival is expected to include carpet exhibitions, masterclasses, and cultural presentations.

The meeting was held in a sincere and constructive atmosphere, and the sides agreed to continue contacts between the relevant institutions to advance cooperation in the agreed areas.
